Overview of Unit:
Big Idea: Identity
Here are lessons and other informative tidbits to create a unit on Identity. Elementary students can learn about important artists, Georges Seurat and Paul Klee as well as their techniques in art making. Through the use of Big Ideas in art education teachers have the ability to inspire students to create meaningful artwork. Artwork with meaning is found when students no matter what age can relate and identify themselves in the learning process. This way the end product is something students can be proud of and give value to their creation. Through this Unit students will not only learn art historical information but also technical skill that they can build on as the get older. The central theme around all of this is their identity and how they can express who they are in the art making process.
